McKinsey puts the agentic commerce opportunity at three to five trillion dollars by 2030. This isn't a feature release. It's a new front door to the internet, and the brands that get discovered inside AI answers will own the next decade.
What agentic commerce actually is
Agentic commerce is a new model of retail where AI agents shop on behalf of consumers, researching products, comparing options, and completing purchases autonomously. The customer no longer opens ten tabs. They ask an assistant, and the assistant does the work: it finds the product, weighs the trade-offs, and buys.
The shift is already in the numbers. Shopify reports that AI-driven orders grew fifteenfold in 2025. Sixty-four percent of shoppers say they’re likely to use AI when making a purchase, rising to eighty-four percent among 18 to 24 year olds. Microsoft found that shoppers using Copilot are 194 percent more likely to complete a sale. This is not a forecast. It’s happening now.

Why Shopify moved first
While most platforms treated AI as a chatbot bolt-on, Shopify rebuilt the plumbing of commerce for agents. Three moves stand out.
Shopify Catalog. Eligible products are automatically syndicated to ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, and the Shop app, with no per-platform setup. Your catalog shows up where customers are already asking.
The Universal Commerce Protocol. Co-developed by Shopify and Google, UCP is an open standard for how agents create carts, check out, take payment, and manage post-purchase. It stops every AI platform from becoming its own incompatible checkout island.
The Agentic Commerce Protocol. Built by OpenAI and Stripe, ACP powers Instant Checkout in ChatGPT. Etsy sellers are live, and over a million Shopify merchants are next, including Glossier, Vuori, Spanx, and SKIMS. With Stripe, a merchant can switch it on with as little as one line of code.
On top of the protocols sits Sidekick, Shopify’s AI assistant, now included on every plan from Basic to Plus at no extra cost, and Agentic Storefronts, launched in December 2025 to control how a brand appears inside AI conversations. Shopify’s Winter 2026 release shipped over 150 new features. The pace is the point.

The part that actually protects your brand
Here’s what most coverage misses. Agentic commerce done right does not hand your customer to a platform. ACP and UCP are open standards, designed so the merchant keeps control of what’s sold, how the brand shows up, how orders are fulfilled, and, critically, the customer relationship. The agent is a new channel, not a new owner. That distinction is everything, and it’s why we’re comfortable building on it.
Where The Blank Works comes in
We’ve spent years doing exactly what this moment rewards: designing brands, building Shopify stores, and running the growth behind them. Ellomatt, baba, and Elara weren’t landing pages. They were full commerce systems, built to be found and built to convert.
Agentic commerce raises the bar. Getting discovered inside an AI answer takes clean product data, structured content, sharp positioning, and a store engineered for conversion, not just a theme. That’s the work. We make brands agent-ready: Catalog and protocol setup, generative engine optimization so you’re cited in ChatGPT and Perplexity, and a storefront that holds up when the traffic arrives.
Shopify built the rails. We build the brands that win on them. Design it, build it, run it.
The next decade of ecommerce won’t be won on the homepage. It’ll be won inside the answer. Let’s make sure yours is the one that gets picked.
